The wavelengths that matter
Research on photobiomodulation concentrates on two bands:

Irradiance (mW/cm²) is how much energy reaches your skin. It falls off fast with distance, so the panel’s spec at the LED surface means little — what counts is irradiance at the distance you actually sit. Useful targets:
- Red (630–660 nm): 30–100 mW/cm² at treatment distance
- NIR (810–850 nm): 30–100 mW/cm²
- Treatment time: roughly 10–20 minutes per session, per the device instructions
A good panel publishes an irradiance map at specified distances, not just a surface figure.
Even coverage: why it beats raw wattage
A panel with a bright center and dim edges forces you to move around to treat evenly. Even irradiance across the panel face means consistent sessions without guesswork — the same design principle as even PPFD in grow lights. Ask for the irradiance map; it tells you more than the LED count.
